Trouble creating live image in F17

$

Hi, I'm currently trying to create a spin for my personal use using the livecd-creator tool and a custom written kickstart file.
Now that I have overcome problems with the image not being created large enough, I am having issues with Plymouth.

After all of the packages show as installed I receive the following message...

Code:

'inst' function, try setting PLYMOUTH_POPULATE_SOURCE_FUNCTIONS to a file that defines it
I googled for this but can only find some old bugzilla posts for older versions of Fedora, with the same problem, which suggest that it should be fixed in the current release.

Any help finding solution or workaround would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

I got a new sony vaio Core i5 laptop. After F16 installation, I cannot access SD card.

persistent name of SD card

Hello!
SD memory card is inserted to internal slot of my server. Sometimes when I boot, this card is /dev/sda, sometimes it's /dev/sdi. Is any way to completly define name of usb card?

PS:
It will be great if all internal hard drives would be sda, sdb, ... sdh, and any usb devices would be sdi(SD card), sdj(my USB key) and others...

When is Firefox 13 Coming to Fedora?

As a linux newbie I like to update software through the Software Update. I was wondering is there a way to predict when Firefox 13 is coming to the Software Update (Fedora 17, 64-bit)? Maybe there's a developer forum, Twitter, or some other place where programmers discuss these kind of things?

system-config-bind DNSsec siging fails out of box

I'm trying to sign my personal DNS domain server so I can start doing dynamic updates and play with dnssec, but I've run into a wall with my preferred management tool, system-config-bind. On my current bind server I was running into an issue where it would fail every time I signed the domain.

I thought there must be something wrong with my config, or my /dev/random's entropy, so I installed bind and system-config-bind on my laptop which has a TPM feeding /dev/random, and I'm running into the exact issue.

I'm familiar with signing my domains from the cli, but I find it easier to use this GUI app and it's disappointing that it's not working as it had for me a few years ago when I tried DNSsec. Does anyone have any idea what could be missing from a base named config that would prevent proper zone signing?

Anyone has a easy to follow guide to set it up? Google searches show only ubuntu links, none for fedora 17. All the automated scripts in "Fedora Setup Guides" are either not updated ot have dropped weather extensions :(

Unfortunately I am stuck using Fedora Core 5 on 5 PC’s at work and cannot upgrade. I am trying to get remote desktop to work so I log in and control any one of them from one location, but am running into some problems. I enable remote desktop, but when I use vncviewer to log into another pc I get a root desktop background and can’t control the machine. I need to be able to take control of the current desktop. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I have vino and vncserver installed

No sound through HDMI with ivy bridge

Hi,

This problem shouldn't be too difficult since it was working on Kubuntu, but I just don't know where to start!

I've just moved over to fedora 17 from Kubuntu, along with a hardware upgrade. I cannot get the sound to work in fedora, but when I tried booting my old Kubuntu system the sound just works.

the device from lspci is:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Panther Point High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)

I am running an i5-3750k on a z77 motherboard and using the on board graphics and sound.

Everything has been left as default apart from selecting HDMI output with the gnome settings manager, and fiddling with the volumes with alsamixer (which does nothing in either system when HDMI is the output).

This is my results from the alsa script: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/f=c1e...cc1f2970ee2013

F16 installation slowly degrading

Hi,

I have been running Fedora 16 on a Dell Studio 17 laptop for several months now. I did a clean install of this release to ensure that I would have a relatively reliable OS for my development work. I have been generally satisfied with this distribution but lately I dread incorporating any updates into the system because I never know what new problems will arise. This anxiety is particularly intense when I install a new kernel version.

The other day I upgraded to the 3.3.7-1.fc16.x86_64 kernel. I had been having problems with having to log in two times and losing bluetooth mouse connection after a system suspend. So I am was hopeful that a system update would fix these issues. But now, with the new updates, I have lost my network icon and I will arbitrarily lose my network connection - both wired and wireless, and the problems with logging in two time and bluetooth are still there.

This is the information written to /var/log/messages at the time of my lost network connection:

Jun 7 07:41:22 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: dbus_g_proxy_begin_call: assertion `!DBUS_G_PROXY_DESTROYED (proxy)' failed
Jun 7 07:41:22 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: nm_supplicant_info_set_call: assertion `call != NULL' failed
Jun 7 07:41:41 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: <info> (eth1): roamed from BSSID 00:25:9C:24:97:75 (Handyman1) to (none) ((none))
Jun 7 07:41:47 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: <info> (eth1): roamed from BSSID (none) ((none)) to 00:25:9C:24:97:75 (Handyman1)
Jun 7 07:42:05 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: dbus_g_proxy_begin_call: assertion `!DBUS_G_PROXY_DESTROYED (proxy)' failed
Jun 7 07:42:05 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: nm_supplicant_info_set_call: assertion `call != NULL' failed
Jun 7 07:42:11 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: <info> (eth1): roamed from BSSID 00:25:9C:24:97:75 (Handyman1) to (none) ((none))
Jun 7 07:42:17 mrRoboto NetworkManager[1069]: <info> (eth1): roamed from BSSID (none) ((none)) to 00:25:9C:24:97:75 (Handyman1)

Can anyone help me out with this problem? If I can't fix this issue, my system is totally useless to me.

p.s. I would enter a bug. But the last two times I put in a bug for losing my bluetooth I got no response whatsoever. This is surprising because I have been using Fedora since version 4 and I always got good response to my bugs in the past.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone,

I am trying to set up a VPN connection to my server for the connection of my iPhone. OpenVPN is running perfect and so my laptop is already securely connected. Unfortunatly OpenVPN is not supported on the iPhone.

The setup is as follows:
WAN IP: 84.27.xxx.xxx (also linked to a domainname)
Router IP: 192.168.178.1
Server IP: 192.168.178.99

iPhone IP: %any

allowed users should be system users and I want a secret key.

I have been reading all sorts of tutorials and I do come up with installing openswan/ipsec.

my /etc/ipsec.conf
Code:

Fedora Server 15.

need to disable selinux without rebooting server.

Is that possible?

I already modified

-bash-4.1# cat /etc/selinux/config

# This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
# SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
# enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.
# permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.
# disabled - No SELinux policy is loaded.

# SELINUX=enforcing
# SELINUXTYPE= can take one of these two values:
# targeted - Targeted processes are protected,
# mls - Multi Level Security protection.

Now you understand why I would not like to remotely reboot server.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

local websties are not working when internet connection is active

Hello,

I've just upgraded my Fedora to 17 on one of my computers for testing.
I work as a web developer, so I have a couple of websites set up locally.
Now whenever I try to access them from firefox on my laptop while internet connection is active, I get an error that they cannot be found. As soon as I disable the internet connection, they work flawlessly. As soon as I re-connect and reload, I get an error "website not available". Any ideas anyone?

Many thanks,
Marek

Both Disks application and Gparted can see them, but show them as "Unknown", and can't mount them. Nautilus, on the other hand, can't see them at all.
I tried adding them to /etc/fstab, but with no results.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this?
