Cannot install F18 on pre-existing linux raid

In F17 and earlier I have been able to boot from install disk and then ultimately access a raid 1 and then do a custom install. I select a root partition and home partition, etc., and the size of each, always reserving some free space in the volume group that is on top of my raid 1.

In F18 install I can't even see any raid. I have tried several possible boot commands:
insmod raid
insmod=mdraid
insmod mdraid
(I can't find a guide to describe the precise syntax for the above, nor any good examples.)

I just want to achieve what I could in F17. I want mdadm created raid devices to be visible and to serve as a candidate for root. I also want to leave my home partition (within my current LVM on top of raid1) untouched when reinstalling/upgrading to the latest Fedora.

Is there an easy boot command to assemble the raid when booting from install disc? I can't find one yet.
