Apache user:group (should I?)

hey everyone, I'm using wordpress and it says that I need ownership of the files in there in order to edit them in the included editor. As such, I would have to change ownership to apache since that's the user:group that httpd runs under. Is this a smart idea and does it open up any security concerns?

I wanted to ask before I go and do it. Thanks for the help!
