Ethernet connection

Hello I have to computers and i want a ethernet connection established how can i do that. I don't want dhcp. want to configure manually how can i do that, what files did i have to alter.

i just tried
ifconfig em1 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 (1st computer)
ifconfig em1 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 (2nd computer)

and in bot service network restart

but they don't connect.:C
