Fedora, NVIDIA, and WINE

Here's my setup:

MSI GT680R laptop with RAID 0 drives (8GB RAM)
NVIDIA GTX460M video card
Fedora 18 (Installed while in Beta--kept up to date with yum)
current kernel : 3.7.6-201
WINE version 1.5.18
using kmod-nvidia-3.7.6 (not kmod-nvidia)
Installed akmod-nvidia
Running XFCE environment

This problem has plagued me for several versions of Fedora, several versions of WINE, and several version of the nvidia drivers.

PROBLEM: I run basically 3-4 games, one of which is Linux native, and the other two are Windows, running under WINE.

The first one, I have no problems with. It doesn't use OpenGL, and is basically just a puzzle-sovling game. Not graphics intensive.

Then I run Civilization 4 (This also happens under Civ 5).

Under Civilization, I can run the game for a random amount of time. It seems to increase if I save the game afer every turn (quite monotonous), but it doesn't solve it totally. After a random amount of time, the entire system just locks up. Mouse, graphics, keyboard, sound, everything is frozen. Only remedy I have found is a power-switch reboot.

Has anyone else experienced this? Googling doesn't seem to find this issue anywhere. Maybe I'm using the wrong terms in my search. I really would like a solution!

Thank you!!

Shadow
