Benq G2020HD under Gnome 3.4 only shows 800*600 and 1024*768

Hi all,

I have a problem with my Benq G2020HD monitor. I can only seem to get 1024*768 maximum and the color depth is pretty dodgy too. It is listed as an unknown monitor in the display manager.

I have so far spent about ten hours on this problem and all that I have found out from countless searches in forums and google and also the release notes and other documentation,is that x.org.conf is no longer used to configure screen resolution; apprently is can still be used but i would rather go with the more modern solution of configuring the systemd as it is in keeping with the spirit of the release, but I will accept any help I can get at this stage.

Let me say from the outset that I am not looking for someone to do my homework for me but if someone more versed in the in's and out's of these things could point me in the right direction I am sure that I will be able to work it out. Here are the specs'

Benq G2020HD monitor
Intel Core i3 3.4 GHz
8 GB RAM
sandybridge desktop chipset (on ASUS P8H61-M LE)
Fedora 18 running the 3.7.9-201....kernel

Any help would be greatly appreciated and If I have left of anything relevant then please let me know and I will added it. Any help at this stage would be helpful it is really starting to get on my nerves not to mention the effect its having on my attempt to give up smoking :C

PS I have attached a screen dump dunno if it is going to be helpful but I have done it anyways

cheers and thankyou for any help you are willing to give.
