As a follow-up to this thread: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=289721, why would using the simple ADSL modem (Zoom model 5760) with Firefox load web pages faster than using the fancier Netgear ADSL mode/router Model DGND3700v2?
With each device, I've used my home computer plugged into an ethernet port. No other computers in the house are connected to this setup by ethernet or wireless. With the modem/router, Firefox often spends several seconds dispalying the "connecting" message before loading a page. With the plain modem, I usually don't get this delay.
At first I thought the problem involved DNS configuration However, when I use nslookup from command line the response is very fast, regardless of whether I'm using the modem or the modem/router.
