Rainbow Series security books - worth reading today?

Hi all,

I was wondering what do u think, is it still worth to read Rainbow Series of books today to increase your computer literacy aka gain more insight in to the operating system / information technology working?

Or is it maybe even more interesting to just take Tanenbaums book that partly inspired Linus to create Freax? :)
