Inspiron 7720 touchpad woes in F18

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R SE (7720) running F18. The touchpad works fine with tap to click and basic cursor movement but nothing else. I've been unable to find anything usefull. I tried changing settings in the UI for mouse/touchpad control but the touchpad is seen strictly as a PS/2 mouse. I went so far as to edit my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf.

I am unsure as to what additional information is required.
