yum search returns "Error: no such table: packagetags"

Until very recently, I able to do
yum search
as myself.
but now when I do it, I get
Error: no such table: packagetags

If I do
sudo yum search
it still works.

Also, System Tools > Add Remove Software, run as myself, still works, although it requires authentication in some cases to get what I want.

I always had to do
sudo yum install
to install anything.

I am running Fedora 17 on a 64 bit machine.

What changed?
