fprintd prompts

Is it possible to program the fprintd to prompt for an external password other than root.. For example to prompt for a password in the keyring when opening an application not recognized in gnome?

I would like fprintd (pam) to prompt for the fingerprint when opening an external application. How can I accomplish this through fprintd without sacrificing security of passwords?
