libreoffice impress won't show a presentation

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a quick fix. I have a presentation I've created in libreoffice impress, and I'm flying to France tonight to go present it. I've just discovered that the latest version of libreoffice on my f18 laptop won't show any slides for any presentation. I think its related to this bug:

I had a previously "known working" version of impress, 3.6.5.2-6, but having reverted to that, I now get a postage stamp sized presentation at the bottom of my screen. So perhaps it's related to changes in Xorg or my radeon driver? I've filed a bug here, but I don't expect any help from the devs in the near future:

I need a quick hack to make this work. I'd really rather avoid exporting to PDF, because I have a bunch of animations and videos I want to show. I've tried both xfce and gnome -- same problem -- I've tried fallback mode and normal mode in gnome -- same. I noticed that sometimes, if I connect a second screen, it works, but that seems pretty unreliable. Please help!!
