Hello,
I am using a Sony VPCZ11X9E with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and an Intel Graphics card.
My laptop used to have almost no BIOS options that made Fedora's job difficult and I had to use acpi_call.
Now that I flashed a new BIOS I am able to choose which card I want to use before the OS boots. Then the OS will "see" only the card I want and nothing else.
And so it happened. I just installed F18 and when I want to use the Intel card I place the switch at the "Stamina" option. When I want the Nvidia card I use the "Speed" option. If I have to change I can shut down the laptop and change it. I'm fine with that. Intel drivers work fine and Nouveau drivers worked fine too.
The problem is I don't want the Nouveau drivers as they do not perform as well as the Nvidia drivers (at least for my needs). I installed akmod-nvidia with the usual tutorials (+ blacklisting/disabling nouveau) and the "Speed" option was working great until I switched to "Stamina" and the OS stops loading at "[OK] Started Display Manager". Which is a black screen on GUI mode.
II can log in with Ctrl+Alt+F2. I tried to change the /etc/X11/xorg.conf and replace the Identifier "nvidia" with "intel" and reboot. It worked without Gnome 3 :) But anyway, I don't want to deal with it this way (changing the xorg.conf manually). Is there any solution for my hardware mux? I don't want to dynamically change the GPU. I just want to change it before the laptop boots.
