mount bug with sd cards

When I move files from an sd card from my camera to my pc, as soon as the os sees a file it doesn't like, it makes the sd card read only and every file after that is left on the card. I found a statement somewhere on the web that this was a feature not a bug as a failsafe to prevent file corruption. Fine, except it's very picky about what file corruption is since the files copied onto my pc are fine but out of 300 files at least 40 are deemed corrupt and each time it reads one, I have to unmount the card remount as rw and delete files until it hits the next "bad" file and start again. I can just reformat and get rid of everything but then the camera has to rebuild its directories every time which is kind of a waste. Some may call it a feature but I call it a bug if there is no switch to force the card to stay writeable. Nag me about what a dangerous life I lead, but it's my hardware and my data.
I want to get this fixed so I thought I'd start here. If there's something I missed please tell me. If there is someone else I should contact about this, please tell me that.
Thanks,
Dave Driscoll
