[SOLVED] Linux Kernel Question

I was about to do a system update via packagekit, and I noticed that the Linux Kernel is going back to version 3.8.9-200. If I am not mistaken, the version I have is 3.9.2-200. Can anyone please tell me why the system is going to revert back to an older kernel version? Any assistance on the matter, or any links that can provide as to why this is, will be greatly appreciated.
