F18 + CPU fan

Hi all,
I just bought a new laptop since my old one is steps away from dying completely. Anyway - Dell Vosteo 3560 with i7-3632QM, Radeon HD 7670M, 8 gb ram. I came with ubuntu pre-installed but I didn't even bother to boot it up and see how it went. I straight on installed F18. Everything worked out of the box, except for one major issue - the CPU fan works at full speed all the time. As soon as I go past the grub screen - that's it. the CPU runs at around 50C according to lmsensors. Which is nor good nor bad considering that my old laptop runs at around the same temperatures at normal time. However, having he fan at full speed 24/7 is completely unacceptable. I spent some time looking around the web, trying to find a solution and it does appear that this issue is common with that model. Mind you - this is the only laptop I tried in the past few months that worked fine and did not have nvidia.

So i installed i8kmon, but I'm struggling to figure out how this needs to be configured. the i8kmon -a(automatic) is not an option since all it appears to do i shut off the fans completely, and couldn't care less about how hot the cpu gets(reached 70 and I turned the fan back on again). The i8k man page is worse than having no man page at all. So if someone could help me, I'd deeply appreciate it.
