First off, sorry if it's the wrong forum, there's a couple different things in here that could go different places. Secondly, sorry for the long read made longer by my apology.
I just got a new system in the last couple of days, and I'm having a few “issues” with it.
Here's my system,
i7-4770
8GB ram
120GBSSD
1TB HD
intel DB85FL motherboard
I'm running F18 KDE
I set the ssd as the boot drive and used lvm while partitioning.
First, trying to install F18 was a pain, not because of the installer, but the system refused to boot several different types of media. The live cd and usb didn't work at all, they would start to boot and then the screen would start flashing different colors. I was finally able to start in basic graphics mode and install.
Then on reboot, setting up a user went fine, until the clock sync. Then, no matter what option I chose, when I continued, the screen would simply go to sleep with the system still on. Obviously it couldn't happen again, right? It took probably 5 tries before something happened and I could actually get to the login screen.
After that everything works perfectly (after all the updates), until I go to Shutdown, logout, or restart.
When I shutdown the system powers off (I think, it's like half a second) then the screen goes to sleep and the box stays on till the board is cool enough to shutdown. I would like to make that time a little shorter without risking frying anything.
How would I do that?
When I go to logout or restart however the system powers off as if I had hit shutdown. Is there a way to fix this so I can logout or restart normally?
A couple of things I think some of these issues could be.
A video card issue, maybe driver related?
A partitioning error
Something in the bios needs fine tuning
Simple non-compatibility being I'm dealing with the latest hardware
Any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: Now the system may shutdown after five minutes, or not after an hour.
