gnome-shell high cpu and mem usage

Greetings, this is my first post on fedoraforum.

I've been using Fedora for the past 1.5 years with excellent results, I recently did a fresh install of F19.

I've noticed that after an amount of time that gnome-shell begins to have high cpu and mem usage.

I first noticed this as lock ups that lasted a second or two, throughout the day as I continue working they seem to get worse. For example I have had my computer on for about 6 hours and experience lock ups for 5-10 seconds every once in awhile. running top or htop I can see that gnome-shell is consuming cpu in the ranges of 8% to 100%. It most often sits between 20-50% and sometimes jumps up to 70-80%. Memory-wise, gnome-shell is consuming about 1.2G.

I've turned on some of the gnome extensions but it is just simple things(calandar, weather, etc...), I have pretty good hardware (Intel i7 3820 and Nvidia GTX 670, 16GB RAM, SSD) so I feel I should be able to run gnome with these "extras". I'm using Nvidia driver version 319.32

Any help you can provide is appreciated, thanks!
