I upgraded my Fedora 16 x86_64 laptop via DVD to Fedora 17. All went without error messages. When I rebooted everything came up fine except networking is dead, both wlan0 and eth0. I have spent hours trying to get them working again, to no avail.
I found a few possible solutions, but they all involve installing or reinstalling packages. I have no network. I have a working desktop computer with a net connection so I could sneakernet a package, but otherwise I cannot install things.
I also made a full system backup before the upgrade. Of course, the files are all from Fedora 16.
The strange part is that a lot of commands seem to work, but actually do nothing. E.g, ifconfig eth0 up executes without error, but eth0 does not come up.
I sure hope someone has some suggestions, because I'm out of ideas.
