In order to answer a qeustion this morning, I ended up having to log into Gnome again. <..:Y..>
Which brings to mind a question I've had for a while, and never discovered the answer to. In both F16 and F17, when opening Nautilus (files) -- after it eventually pops open, the cursor continues to spin (in "busy" mode) for up to 15 seconds. It doesn't seem to effect navigation, as I finally got disgusted with it and began shoving through it and drilling in further or immediately opening a file or starting an application.
My question is, why does it sit there and cogitate so long? Whussup? Is it confused, retentive, groping for the exits, scratching something better unknown and unseen, or is it actually busy, and if so, what in the name of striped yellow cat-fuzz is it doing?!
<....>
