Today I was checking something when I run ps.mem.py in Xfce and the used RAM summed up to 400+ MiB
IIRC there was nothing open besides the terminal window.
Xfce used to show the likes of maybe 140 MiB or something like that before.
I added a new user today and had booted in both users so I thought there could be some leak or whatever but no, it seems either F18 (which I'm using) or the latest kernels are using the memory differently (much more generously for the X applications).
I rebooted to level 3 and was using 36 MiB, then started graphical.target (lightdm) and it went to 120 MiB, then logged into IceWM and it got like this:
Note those X apps that should use from 1MiB to 4MiB max using betweeen 20 to 30 MiB.
Then logged out and back into Xfce and:
It's like all those X apps got 20 MiB added to their previously usual RAM usage.
I'm not worried, it's fine that they use what's available, but just noticing this change in memory management.

I may be mistaken, but aren't all those apps that have more RAM usage related to GTK?
