Proprietary Nvidia driver not detecting power source

Hello, I'm running Fedora 17 (64 bit) on a Dell Latitude E6430, which has an Nvidia NVS5200 card (I've disabled Optimus since I need to use the HDMI port, which is muxed to the nvidia card, rather than the Intel).

To save power while on battery, I've set a fixed frequency (lowest) when the laptop is on battery and adaptive PowerMizer when on AC. However, the driver doesn't seem to detect the power source (plug in AC or pull out AC). I need to log out of X and log back in to register this.

So far, I've traced it down to the Nvidia driver probably relying on /proc/acpi to read the state, but this has been deprecated in favour of /sys/class/power_supply. Basically, my /proc/acpi has no information about the battery or power status.

Is there a way of getting the nvidia driver to detect the change in power source on-the-fly?
