[SOLVED] Fedora 17: Mate start-up

I installed F17 using netinstall and chose Mate as the only desktop. The login screen works very slowly, as if the system is frozen, before accepting my password and then when loading the desktop. Once the desktop is loaded, the system seems to work normally.

Any ideas on what may be wrong? If it could be graphics-related, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5770.

I solved the problem by installing the Mate updates in Fedora 17's testing repository:
su -c "yum install @mate-desktop --enablerepo=updates-testing"

That made a dramatic improvement in Mate's loading. Mate is working great now.
