I just re-did my laptop. It's an HP Mini 311 netbook. Nvidia Ion GPU, 3GB of RAM and I just swapped out the HDD for a new SSD.
I just did a fresh install of F17.
Here's what going on... If I walk away from it and the screensaver/screen lock kicks on, mayhem ensues. If it's only a few minutes, all is well, but if it's for any reasonable length of time, say, 30 minutes, then the touchpad is no longer responsive. The cursor will move, but it jumps around, and only moves a very short distance with each swipe of the finger.
Also, in addition though, not as frequent, sometimes I'll unlock the machine, and X sort of restarts. I say "sort of", because, though it appears to restart and the NVidia screen splashes, it'll return to the same applications being open, with everything being as it was when the screen locked.
Except for the touchpad part.
The only solution is a complete shutdown. Power off. Restarting does NOT resolve it, strangely enough.
