Use two graphics cards?

I have a computer with an on-board graphics card (ATI Radeon) that worked fine until now.

Now I added a NVidia GT 640 card I want to use for CUDA numbercrunching. But I have some problems configuring both for usage - the internal one for showing graphics the NVidia-card for processing.

As soon as I install the NVidia-xorg-drivers (from RPMFusion) the internal ATI-card no longer works, it shows the console at maximum but no X-server can be started with it.

When I change the BIOS-settings to not to use the internal graphics but the additional card as primary graphics adapter the X-server can be started via the NVidia card, the internal card does not show anything, it seems to be dead.

So how can I configure my system to load and use the NVidia graphics drivers (for my CUDA-calculations) AND the radeon drivers so that the X-Server can be started on the ATI on-board card?

Edit: to clarify that a bit, my main problem is that the internal ATI card can't be used for the X-Server as soon as the (required) NVidia drivers are installed...
