I have been facing some wifi issues with linux distros on my laptop, here are a few:
- The wifi connection is established but page resolving takes time, sometimes pages are simply not found.
|-> Ping 8.8.8.8 during such a time shows 'destination host unreachable' for a while, then suddenly starts
getting response..and we have a page loaded...
- My home router is setup with WPA2 personal security, frequently, when i connect to it, fedora keeps asking
me for the password over and over again, unable to connect. I don't know if this is a router issue or wifi driver..
So, as a part of the solution I tried downloading the rtl 8192ce driver from realtek's website and installing it using the 'make' and 'make install' method.
I am using fedora 17 on a dual boot machine and, Here are my queries:
1) Is it possible that I have installed two drivers, one that comes with the fedora default installation, and the other myself?
2) I really want to get to the bottom of this issue, what commands do I have at my disposal?
here's the output of a few commands i know:
