Every year when I gather up my tax forms to take to HR Block, I seem to be missing one. This year I didn't find a form 1099 from BBVA Compass bank. So I went to a branch office today and a helpful teller called someone to ask for another copy of it. Turns out I didn't misplace the form. They don't send a form 1099 if your account earns less that $10 of interest per year. My account had an average monthly balance of about $41,000 , but I only got $3.53 in interest last year!
At least, I can take pleasure in having "complete" paperwork. Makes me glad I have some money in other banks.
