Hello,
I am able to mount directories from server via NFS but first I have to perform root login and only then i am permitted to mount any share. !:dis:

Que 1: How do i mount directories WITHOUT ROOT PERMISSION ? :confused:coz I am planning to develop a small APPLICATION where a user willl enter USERNAME and PASSWORD, and then the the application will validate the Username And password from the server and will mount the appropriate /home with any other directory from server .
Que 2: How do I validate the Username And password from the server ?
Is it possible in this way --> Suppose my server (f17) has 20 users, so how do I use these username and passwords, so that any of the user (anyone from the 20 users) can go to any system, open the APPLICATION, put in their username password and get authenticated from the server and mount their /home on that respt. computer.
Que 3: Or is it possible in this way --> I install oracle database on server (f17), put in usernames , password and then validate and mount the /home . ?
Que 4: How do I develope this APP ? Can the APPLICATION be build in Java and will it acheive these goal ?? Or please specify any simple way for developing this small app ?

NOTE: I have tried NIS / SAMBA but they are very confusing.

Any tutorial, link will help too.
Thank You.
