Evolution hangs when sending or recieving emails

Hi Guys,

I installed FC-18 the other day and right now I'm trying to get evolution working. However I'm at a complete loss over a problem that I was hoping you could help me with.

Whenever I try to send or recieve emails, evolution basically hangs and must be killed. More precisely, the windows still respond (clicking on emails, resizing, etc. works) but pressing cancel or closing evolution doesn't. I'm trying to connect to pop3 and smtp servers which require authentication. The problem also persists without encryption and also when disabling all plugins (--disable-eplugin).

I assume (but I could be completely wrong here), that there is a window somewhere, prompting for my password, which is invisible.

The version I'm running is evolution-3.6.4-3.fc18.x86_64.
Wireshark shows, that evolution connects successfully with the mail servers but stops working when username and password should be transmitted (The latter of which it never asks for).

This is the transcript with the POP server:

+OK Hello there.
CAPA
+OK Here's what I can do:
STLS
TOP
USER
LOGIN-DELAY 10
PIPELINING
UIDL
IMPLEMENTATION Courier Mail Server
.

And this is the transcript with the SMTP server:

220 mail-in-14.arcor-online.net ESMTP arcor.de Mailservices usermail
EHLO [192.168.0.86]
250-mail-in-14.arcor-online.net
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 48000000
250-ETRN
250-STARTTLS
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN

I used telnet to access the POP server and it seems to be working correctly. I attached to the process using gdb and all threads are suspended, either in a poll or waiting on a condition.

I tried downgrading to evolution-3.6.2-3.fc18.x86_64 as well as compiling from source. Both didn't show any change. I'm "directly" connected to the internet (through a NAT), so no proxy is involved.

I realize, that this might not be a fedora problem, but there seems to be now official evolution forum. If this is the wrong place for this post, can you point me to the correct forum?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Best regards,

Andy

Edit: I just noticed: It does work with gnome shell, but the password prompt is invisible in cinnamon, which I'm using. Do you have any suggestions, why this is the case?
