It was year July, 2010. My son studying in 11th came to me and requested to install linux in our computer at home which was running windows7. He has to use linux for some school exercise. I was considered somewhat windows champion and i used to watch windows installation which was a frequent happening in my house-hold due to tempering with installed windows by me (by installing various software) and by my son (by installing various games). I asked him what linux is and he answered something like windows:).
So i called window installer man and asked him to install linux. It took him some time to find courage/linux distro but ultimately he brought fedora 4 cd for installation. (If i remember correctly, at that time ongoing version was fedora11). I have already been warned regarding fatal consequences of problems of installation (of wiping out of hard-disk etc. and in turn i have also warned my son of his games going burst. ( I being anti-games was perhaps happy to warn him:p).
After my son's permission, on one crucial Sunday, i set with installer man to install fedora side by side windows and it happened what he warned. He erred and deleted some wrong partition which made computer non-bootable.
Perhaps that might have been end of my linux adventure:(. But being labelled as computer savvy, i persisted on installing linux. So we reinstalled windows first and then successfully installed fedora 4. Within a week i installed fedora 11 and since then, my journey with fedora has begun and for all of my office work and almost for all purpose i use fedora. Presently working installation fedora 18 with fedora 19 in virtualbox.
I have one extra computer for personal use (Netbook hp 520 purchased second-hand at throw-away price because of virus laden windows 7). It contains modified easypeasy. I wiped windows xp from it (no more dual booting) in February, 2013.
It has already suffered with various linux distros and as support for lucid is going to end in may, 2013, i may replace easypeasy with fuduntu. Who knows?:D
For other folks, i am still not able to wipe out windows completely from desktops both at home and office.
Now i feel better.
