eBay UK selling broken for Linux users? (or is it a java problem?)

Just tried to list a couple of bits as it's a free listing weekend, but was scuppered by the 'upgrade' eBay made to their listing tool, so I was wondering if it's broken for everyone not using Windows/iOS/Android?
  1. click 'Sell an Item' you're now presented a page with a URL ending .jsf
  2. click to browse a category or search by your title it displays a corrupt window and you can't proceed.
I'm using Mint 13 at the moment (hated GNOME 3 so much I went to Mint for Cinnamon and haven't been bothered to reinstall since) I tried a Touchpad tablet as well and the same thing happens. So maybe this is a problem with the open source java, or rather a lack of Sun JRE? Either way it seems like an ill considered move by eBay (assuming it's not a problem specific to me.)

Belatedly I noticed that you can click 'Sell a Vehicle' as a workaround, that links to the old listing method and you can go back and change the category from there.

Anyone else see the same issue?
