My desktop effects haven't been working properly lately and after looking around a bit I found this in KDE's "Desktop Effects" settings:
"OpenGL compositing (the default) has crashed KWin in the past. This was most likely due to a driver bug."
As far as I can tell, OpenGL is working fine - I'm having no graphical issues with any other programs including some that I know for a fact rely on OpenGL to some degree. The problem seems to be specific to KWin. I've also encountered the problem once before and was able to fix it by restoring all KDE settings to default (moving the .kde folder). That didn't work this time. I also tried downgrading mesa-libGL which was the only graphics-oriented package updated recently aside from the catalyst kmod for the latest kernel, which is not the one I'm using anyway.
I'm using Fedora 18, kernel 3.7.9-205 with a Radeon HD 7600M series graphics card. The issue isn't terribly severe but is quite noticeable and annoying. Is anyone experiencing anything similar or able to offer suggestions about what I could do to fix this?
