Hello all:
My mother recently asked me to look into an alternative to paying for cable since our bill has just gotten to bit a bit out of control. Both my mother and I rarely watch T.V., but my grandfather--who lives with us--watches it a lot, so the machine will have to be as "grandpa friendly" as possible. It needs to be able to stream television stations such as FOX News, PBS, A&E, and really any station that I can get my hands on. So, now let me try to express what I need in terms of questions:
1. Are there any software packages out their for Fedora (or any linux distro, really) that play streaming television channels?
2. If there are any programs, can they be controlled using a remote of sorts or would that have to been something that I configure manually?
3. Does anyone happen to know of places where I can find streams of television channels that I can hook into to?
That's all that I can think of at the moment. If I have any other specific things I can think of, I'll add them. Thank you very much in advance!
Sincerely,
Galvin
