ffmpeg dependency issues

Hello again,
I need ffmpeg and ffmpeg-devel, however I hit dependency issues; likely my own fault as I've pulled in a bunch of packages. How do I start to find what's causing the issues?
Any help is appreciated o/

The deps error:

Move /boot and / to software RAID1

I have a Fedora 20 installation that I would like to get on software raid. I have done this many times over the years, but this is the first time I've attempted it with dracut and grub2. Things are not as simple as they used to be!

The installation is super simple, with /boot and / on a single partition. I have created the raid array with

"mdadm --create /dev/md0 --metadata 1.0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sda2"

copied my root filesystem to the array with

"cp -dpRx / /md0_mountpoint"

With the new array mounted on /md0_mountpoint, I edited /md0_mountpoint/etc/fstab to use the UUID of the new /dev/md0 as the / mount device

updated grub with

"grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg"

This almost worked, but when I booted, it didn't use the new array, it just booted on the old /dev/sdc4 partition (current installation root). So I edited /boot/grub2/grub.cfg to fix the "root=UUID" kernel parameter in the new md0 entry to point at the UUID of the md0 array.

When I boot, now, it loads the initrd, starts to boot, but when it comes time to mount the root FS, it hangs and, eventually (a few minutes) drops to a dracut command shell.

I have tried the following:

dracut -a mdraid -a dmraid --mdadmconf --add-drivers raid1 --install mdadm --include /root/myfile /etc/myfile /md0
_mount_point/boot/initramfs-3.14.4-200.fc20.x86_64.img

but it changed nothing (except that I can read /etc/myfile from the dracut command prompt to assure I am loading the correct initramfs). dracut is not seeing the raid array. How do I get it to detect it? This dracut commend started out as simply "dracut /md0_mount_point/boot/initramfs-3.14.4-200.fc20.x86_64.img", but has grown as I tried new things, but even with the addition of the raid dracut module, it still does not detct the array ("cat /proc/mdstat" from the dracut command shell shows nothing). The addition of the mdraid and dmraid were a bit of a last resort that did'nt help. I'm betting it's something simple, but I'm stuck. Help!

aMule Firewalled

I was running aMule connected and then suddenly it was firewalled.

One major change: I used fedup to upgrade from Fedora 18 to Fedora 20. I'm pretty sure I was running aMule as connected, initially after the upgrade. Suddenly it was firewalled.

I was running aMule on TCP 50000, UDP 50003, 60000.

I verified I had the ports open in firewalld.

I completely turned off firewalld (here's the verification):
Code:

[root@p7-1456c ~]# iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination
[root@p7-1456c ~]#

I have a firewall in front of my private network. It's also running Fedora. It's set up for NAT. Here's the current minimalist firewall (for testing--I've taken down all of the firewall rules except the ones I need for aMule):

Code:

[root@tplinux ~]# iptables -t nat -L
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination

Chain POSTROUTING (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination
MASQUERADE  all  --  anywhere            anywhere            MARK match 0x9

Chain PREROUTING (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination
DNAT      tcp  --  anywhere            anywhere            tcp dpt:50000 to:192.168.1.34
DNAT      udp  --  anywhere            anywhere            udp dpt:50003 to:192.168.1.34
DNAT      udp  --  anywhere            anywhere            udp dpt:60000 to:192.168.1.34
[root@tplinux ~]#

I've also tried with other ports including, but not limited to:
. 4662, 4665, 4672
. 15000, 15003, 16000
. 50000, 50003, 60000

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

libvirt & iptables?

$

I have a system on which I run libvirt and recently used fedup to upgrade from f18 to f20. Now, on f20, in troubleshooting a possibly separate problem I disabled firewalld. Normally disabling firewalld leaves you without a firewall. On this system something snuck in from libvirt. Can anyone please help me figure out what this is and where the script creating the iptables entries resides along with whether this is appropriate behavior?

Code:

]# systemctl status firewalld.service -l
firewalld.service - firewalld - dynamic firewall daemon
  Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/firewalld.service; disabled)
  Active: inactive (dead)

]# iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination
ACCEPT    udp  --  anywhere            anywhere            udp dpt:domain
ACCEPT    tcp  --  anywhere            anywhere            tcp dpt:domain
ACCEPT    udp  --  anywhere            anywhere            udp dpt:bootps
ACCEPT    tcp  --  anywhere            anywhere            tcp dpt:bootps

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination
ACCEPT    all  --  anywhere            192.168.122.0/24    ctstate RELATED,ESTABLISHED
ACCEPT    all  --  192.168.122.0/24    anywhere
ACCEPT    all  --  anywhere            anywhere
REJECT    all  --  anywhere            anywhere            reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
REJECT    all  --  anywhere            anywhere            reject-with icmp-port-unreachable

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target    prot opt source              destination
]#

What lead me to believe this to be a libvirt problem 1) 192.168.122.0/24 is the libvirt natted network; and 2) the following:

Code:

]# systemctl status firewalld.service -l
firewalld.service - firewalld - dynamic firewall daemon

I'm trying to use Boxes to do my virtualization, but I have SELinux blocking it. Should I change a setting in SELinux to be permissive towards Boxes? Or is there a particular way to use Boxes with SELinux?

Does FH13FF238 webcam run on Fedora 20? Under W7 I got blank screen after upgrading Cyberlink from 3.0 (it was running) to 3.1 (it doesn't). So far re-installed W7 and all drivers.

I look also for any USB phone (SIP) recommendations. What brand would be compatible with Fedora (have old US Robotics)?

I haven't been able to get Glade 3.16 to work for at least two months. In looking at Bugzilla, it looks like there might be duplicate bug reports but I'm not sure. I'm not really an experienced bug reporter, any help is appreciated, thanks.

When I try to start from the console I get this.

relatively minor problems with apple magic trackpad

Hi guys,

two things I've noticed with my magic trackpad on F20 that may be simple to fix, I'm not sure.

1) I can't figure out a way to emulate the "browser back" button. I guess I'd like to have something like a three finger swipe to the left but not sure how to configure this or if it's even possible out of the box. I've seen a few mentions of "touchegg" that might be able to do this but I'd like to stick to stock software if possible.

2) In gnome3, after I paired the touchpad, the battery monitor showed up in my top bar notification area. When I click on the tray area, the drop down battery thing just says "estimating"...

Lost ability to boot windows

Yes, I know that that is not a big loss but I need to boot windows for other reasons. I got a new laptop with win 8.1 on it. I was able to free up half of the disk and installed Fedora 20. I don't remember seeing any option to choose a bootloader. I am using grub2. I believe it is booting EFI. However, in the grub menu at boot time there is no entry for win8. I have been searching and trying things but have not been able to have grub2-mkconfig find and create an entry for win8. I tried to run grub2-efi to see if that fixes the problem. However, when I enter the command, I get the response that program grub2-efi is not found. I tried to reinstall grub2-efi with yum but got the same response. I don't know what info is needed to pursue fixing this. Please let me know what to enter and I will supply whatever is needed. BTW, Fedora comes up and runs fine.
Thanks for any help.

fedora 20 installing

Firstly let me say I have consulted the docs for 20 installation, but still have some questions. It seems fedora 20 wants to set up several different partitions. / for root /boot I assume for booting :) and /swap for memory paging. Now I have 20 GB set aside. Is that enough? I have plenty more space I can obtain. I unselect the LVM settings for the partitions. I never got into lvm so I'm not quite sure what it wants to do so I unselected it. I have another older fedora version installed so would really like to boot linuxs from windows XP's boot.ini but can't find anything up to date to do that. Anyone have anything for those who having been using fedora 20?

[SOLVED] F20 - MATE notification daemon issue

Sharing workaround.

I did a fresh install of F20 MATE 32-bit and applied the latest stable updates from the Fedora repo earlier this week. I have noticed that it does not commit theme changes made in the control center popup notification settings. Instead it continues displaying nodoka after restarting the OS which is the default.

Solution was to change it with dconf. Then it stayed on slider.

Builds installed by update:

mate-notifcation-daemon 1.6.1.2.fc20
mate-control-centre 1.6.2.2.fc20

Any further info about updates installed required please ask.

I have seen advice howto remove timeout and on 32bit it works

sudo gedit /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

I just change timeout value to 0 and job done,

However, when i write the same command in 64bit version gedit opens empty, another words, this file - /boot/grub2/grub.cfg doesnt exist in 64 bit version and i dont know how to remove timeout... anyone... :D?

checksum for burned DVD not correct?

f2eeed5102b8890e9e6f4b9053717fe73031e699c4b76dc702 8749ab66e7f917 *Fedora-20-x86_64-DVD.iso

the checksum of ISO is correct
but when I burn this to DVD many times, they are the same different from this checksum
and if i use ImgBurn, it shows:

Image File Implementation Identifier: ISO MD5SUM = b39b2f6770ca015f300af01cb54db75c;SKIPSECTORS = 15;RHLISOSTATUS=0;FRAGMENT SUMS = 8c2957378e902aeae59e24f61cf6434a5a721a211554de06ce 6caf95812d;FRAGMENT COUNT = 20;THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS RUNNING MD5SUM ON THIS ISO!!

i unzip the iso with 7z, compare this two,
the burned DVD doesn't have this file "[BOOT]/Bootable_NoEmulation.img"

what is happening?
